All About Mrs. Meier

Introduction Letter from Mrs. Meier

Hello Team Meier 2nd Grade Families!

Welcome to 2nd grade at Gold Rush Elementary! My name is Lauren Meier and I am very excited to announce that I will be your child’s 2nd Grade Teacher this upcoming school year.  I am so looking forward to a beautiful school year with your child, filled with exploration, imagination, creativity, collaboration and learning.  My goal for this school year is to help foster a love of learning in each of my students, while providing hands-on activities that help connect our learning to the real world.  I am committed to ensuring a quality of instruction that is both developmentally appropriate and challenging for each individual student.  I am very excited to meet you and your child soon!

This year will begin my 8th year of teaching. I graduated from Texas Christian University (go Horned Frogs!) with a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education and a certification in English as a Second Language.  I have worked in Texas schools for seven years and moved to the Denver area this summer to teach in Douglas County.  I am very excited to be a part of the team here at Gold Rush!

To help you get to know me a little better, here is a little info about my life outside of the classroom.  My husband Steven and I recently celebrated his graduation from dental school and our 8th anniversary with a trip to Italy this past June.  It was a beautiful trip and a much needed time to rest and enjoy life.  We have three beautiful daughters, Gabriella who is seven and identical twin girls, Grace and Kate, who are four.  We have enjoyed exploring the beautiful Colorado scenery with our time here this summer and love doing just about anything outdoors as a family.  Some of my personal hobbies include teaching my girls piano, playing the harp and taking photos of friends and family.

I also believe that in order for success to occur throughout the school year, the student, parents, teacher and the school must collaborate to provide an optimum learning experience.

I look forward to forming a partnership with you that is positive and supportive this school year.  If you have any questions, concerns, comments or praises, please feel free to contact me via email at LmMeier@dcsdk12.org. I look forward to meeting “y’all” soon!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Lauren Meier
